The Ann Arbor Metro area is such a great place to live and some areas like Dexter, MI are particularly desirable to many. Dexter is the ultimate in small town living being a picturesque village nestled along the banks of the Huron River. Boasting around 3,000 residents it is located just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ann Arbor.

Dexter itself boasts a great set of its own amenities with restaurants, shopping and more! It is no wonder that people are looking to relocate to the area – or even, retire here!

Retirees are flocking to communities like The Cedars of Dexter where they can enjoy all of the delights of an Active Adult Community in a convenient, secluded location set in 15 acres. The Cedars of Dexter is a picturesque community for adults 60 and better. Developed by the United Methodist Retirement Communities, The Cedars of Dexter offers residents a refined residential community of Craftsman style luxury cottages. The homes are set in scenic surroundings and feature elegant floor plans with gracious spaces and refined amenities. And this friendly community, which features a clubhouse, fitness center and paved walking paths.

Homes here feature many upgrades like Granite Countertops, Ceramic Tile Flooring, Covered Front Porches and more!

How does it work? The Cedars of Dexter is one of only a handful of senior communities in the area to offer life leases, where residents put down the cost of the unit but ownership is retained by UMRC. Residents of the Cedars of Dexter recover at least 90 percent of the entry fee when they leave. Entry fess will run between $279,000 and $319,000.

If you are looking for a retirement home in Dexter – this could be it!  Children ( maybe grandchildren) attend Dexter Schools: click here to view a video on Dexter Schools.  Spend some time  learning more about  Dexter at the Dexter Museum or catching the latest  production at the Encore Musical Theatre.  A quick restaurant is the former A &W which is a favorite to grab  a  hot dog and take it to Warrior Park behind the fire department to  picnic  by the Huron River.  Of course you can bike into Dexter for  shopping at  2 major grocery stores.  Grab a coffee by the clock tower  and stop in  to one of the boutiques, visit the Dexter Library – see our video.  Be sure to take advantage of the many events in Dexter including Dexter Daze – see videos.

We welcome your comments, if you live in the community, we want to hear what you think of your neighborhood and welcome your input to improve this Ann Arbor Area information.

Kerrytown Concert House Presents Freddy Cole

Described as “overall, the most maturely expressive male jazz singer of his generation, if not the best alive” by the New York Times, 2011 Grammy nominee Freddy Cole brings his Quartet to Ann Arbor for two sets September 23.

Cole doesn’t apologize for sounding like his brother, Nat “King” Cole.  There are certain unmistakable similarites.  He plays and sings and performs live with guitar and upright bass, just like Nat.  Yet his voice is raspier, smokier, jazzier even.  He has emerged from the awesome shadow cast by his brother.

This concert is part of KCH’s Kerrytown Club series, a chance to enjoy great musical moments in a nightclub setting. Call early to reserve café tables in the front of the hall. A cash bar will be available.
