Ann Arbor is a beautiful, historical town that is fun to visit and even more exciting to live in. The residents of Ann Arbor get to take advantage of the many shops and restaurants that are located in the area, as well as the abundance of parks and recreational locations. There are more than 150 parks in Ann Arbor that cover 2,094.54 acres of land. There are many activities available for residents of all ages to take part in as well as picnic shelters, swimming pools, and ice rinks.

Arbor Oaks

Arbor Oaks is located on Champagne Drive on the eastern side of Stratton Court. It is a small neighborhood park that contains a playground area, a basketball court, walking paths, picnic tables, an open field area for playing ball.

Northside Park

Northside Park is located on Pontiac Street at the Northeast corner of Taylor Street. This 5.21 acre park contains a small play area designated for toddlers and preschoolers. There is also a community center, softball fields, a water fountain to play in, tennis courts, and public restrooms. The park is adjacent to the Northside School, which has several accessible playground areas for older children to play on.

Leslie Park

Leslie Park is located on Leslie Park Circle off of Dhu Varren Road. This large 38 acre park has two playground areas, several tennis courts, softball fields, and basketball courts. There is a sledding hill that features a fantastic view of the golf course that is on site. The park has several open fields for playing, picnic tables, and benches. There is plenty of parking space available to visitors and portable restrooms available in the summer. A bike path connects all of the activities that are located inside of the park. The trails also connect Leslie Park to nearby Black Pond Woods.

The Leslie Park golf course, located on the park grounds, is one of the very best places to play a round of golf in Ann Arbor. Golf Digest awarded it with the “The Municipal Course” while Michigan Golfer ranked it as “One of the Best Courses in Southeast Michigan.” Residents of the area are encouraged to come out and enjoy a round or two of golf no matter if they are a beginner or a seasoned pro.

Churchill Downs Park

Churchill Downs Park is located at Steeplechase Drive on the West Side (in between Pebble Creek Road and Birch Hollow Drive). This small 1.18 acre neighborhood park can be found next to Interstate 94 with access provided by a concrete walk entryway. There is a playground area with several benches for parents to relax on while their children play. A half basketball court is available as well as an open field that contains two soccer goals. This park also contains picnic tables, a drinking fountain and a grill for barbecuing.

Burns Park

Burns Park is located at 1300 Baldwin Avenue across the street from Burns Park School. It was once the site of the annual county fair and the shape of the old oval track can still be seen by the trees that were originally planted around the park’s interior. There is a small sheltered building on site with restrooms and a drinking fountain. Five tennis courts are available at the park along with one half-court that is used for practicing. There is also a basketball court and a sledding hill that is perfect for outdoor winter activities. Children can play in the playground area while parents take a break on a nearby bench.
