What a wonderful sight watching all the students, friends, family, firefighters, the police force, and locals come out to support this exciting annual event. Dexter High School is continuously ranked one of the top comprehensive schools in the state of Michigan. It is a joy every year to see the hard work that these Dexter students put into building their floats, creating eye-stopping signs, and discovering new and creative ways to grab peoples attention! It was fun to see the Football players getting the crowd on their feet and the proud mothers of the talented Dexter Dreadnaughts football players screaming their child’s name at the top of their lungs!

Dexter has many sports teams that they offer for students to come and try out for including Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Soccer, Men’s Tennis, Men’s Water Polo, Dance, Equestrian, Field Hockey, Football, Girls Cross Country, Girls Golf, Girls Swimming, Girls Sideline Cheer, and Volleyball. The student’s never fail to fill the stands during athletic events to support their friends and classmates! Everyone at the school is always excited on game days and the players typically wear their jerseys to get everyone excited for the night. Dexter is a close knit town filled with lots of laughter and love within the community. Their education systems are led by the most trusted people who are there for one purpose: To help your child succeeded and learn in new and innovating ways.

Dexter is a beautiful city that has almost doubled in population since 1990! They have excellent parks, a beautiful downtown area filled with adorable stores and delicious restaurants, and a thriving education system. The Toth Team is a proud supporter of the Dexter Dreadnaughts and wishes all the athletes a safe and fun season!!

Today, we’re talking all about local craft beer! Jake VanAtta, the Marketing Director of the Beer Grotto, is a big time hockey player and an expert on craft beer.

The Beer Grotto is a craft beer and boutique wine lounge that offers Michigan over 48 taps and dozens of types of fine wines. There are three locations: downtown Dexter, Anne Arbor, and Lansing.

At the Beer Grotto, you will be able to try anything in the store before you buy it. Jake wants you to find a beer that you will love. 10 Steps to Help You Hire the Perfect Builder

Today, we’re here with Randy Surline, a senior sales partner at Allen Edwin homes. We’ve referred many clients to Randy, and he is here to help us go over the 10 steps to hiring a builder.

1. Define your needs. What size and type of home do you need? What price are you expecting to pay for it?

2. Work with experience. Always check your builder’s experience.

3. Check past references. Look at customer reviews and see how satisfied the builder’s past clients were.

4. Verify their license and insurance.

5. Look for a design fit. Make sure their aesthetic works with yours.

6. Warranty and service. A ten year structure warranty is how you know a builder is happy with what they do.

7. Resale value. Have past homes from this builder maintained or increased in value? This is where your real estate agent comes in.

8. Industry involvement. Is the builder a member of the local homebuilders association?

9. Quality home tours. Tour model homes or custom homes. Do not skip this step! Look at the workmanship of the home.

10. Builder model registration. When you fill this out, make sure you include your real estate agent in the paperwork. Real estate agents always add value.

Today, we are joined by Randy Surline, a senior sales partner at Allen Edwin Homes. Randy has years of building experience, so he’ll answer a few questions that you should always ask a builder when buying new construction.

Allen Edwin Homes has been building in Michigan for 22 years. Currently, they build about 200 homes a year in Southeast Michigan. Allen Edwin provides great energy efficiency, high-quality workmanship, and they follow up with their clients after the sale and the build.

As far as cost goes, the buyer controls the price. When Allen Edwin comes in, we make sure the area makes sense, the community makes sense, and everything fits comfortably within their budget. Once that is settled, anything above that price is selected by the buyer from our showroom, or structurally for the home.

Another concern when building is the timeline. The nice thing is that in Southeast Michigan, there are about 60 or 70 spec homes in progress, which allows buyers to move in quicker. If you’re building from scratch, Allen Edwin uses a slotting process so that the buyer knows when the house will be done within a two-month window.
