The Academy of Early Music presents Cappella Pratensis
Cappella Pratensis performs “For Eternal Glory and Remembrance” Missa de Sancto Donatiano by Jacob Obrecht
The Dutch-based vocal ensemble Cappella Pratensis – literally ‘Cappella des prés’ – champions the music of Josquin des Prez and the polyphonists of the 15th and 16th centuries. The group combines historically informed performance practice with inventive programmes and original interpretations based on scholarly research and artistic insight. As in Josquin’s time, the members of Cappella Pratensis perform from a central music stand, singing from the original mensural notation scored in a large choirbook.

The Leslie Science & Nature Center is proud to announce a Veterans Day event for our community from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11 on our grounds at 1831 Traver Rd, Ann Arbor MI. We appreciate the dedication and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans, and we wish to provide a celebratory event in their honor. This event is free of charge, and we welcome all members of the community, young and old, to join us as we celebrate our nation and the men and women who have chosen to serve.
The November 11 event will kick off with a brief program including music, special guests, an honor guard, and a ribbon cutting of our new Bald Eagle’s enclosure, dedicated to our nation’s veterans. Following the ribbon cutting, we invite all attendees to explore the Leslie Science & Nature Center grounds, including our Critter House, woods, lawns, and Raptor enclosures. The KindleFest Market, or Christkindlmarkt as known in Germany, will feature artisans, farmers and retailers selling their holiday wares plus traditional food, mulled wine and beer. Kerrytown area retail businesses will be open late on this evening as they participate in the festivities, offering special holiday bargains. KDA teams up with the Tübingen Sister City Group of Ann Arbor to add some more of the German Chriskindlmarkt cultural traditions to the event. Family-friendly, and keeping in the spirit of an outdoor holiday market, there will be pretzels, bratwursts, roasted nuts, Glühwein (a mulled wine) and beer, fire pits to keep warm and for s’more roasting, caroling, strolling musicians, Santa, lots of lights and more.
At 7pm, the Children’s Lantern Parade will take place. Bring your family to the Kindlemarket for an exciting children’s lantern parade, modeled after the German St. Martin tradition that celebrates Samaritan deeds. At the parade, the children will illuminate the neighborhood with their colorful lanterns while singing American Christmas carols.
