Tubing, Skiing, and Snowmobiling Oh My | Ann Arbor Winter Wonderland

Pure Michigan knows how to present our Michigan winters in the best light.  I happen to love the outdoors and winter fun.  Every Saturday morning at 7 am I was on a bus bound for a local ski resort for ski lessons with my 5 brothers and sisters.

Mount Brighton which is the closest ski hill for us in Ann Arbor was home to many ski outings for me.  I was on the volunteer ski patrol while in the Blizzard Ski Club and continued patrolling at Blue Mountain in Ontario.

For years we have enjoyed snowmobiling at Higgins Lake and always brought a large can of chunky soup to heat over a camp fire for lunch.  There are many trails.  Once when they were building I75 in Roscommon, we had amazing hills and ditches to glide on and jump.  The next year the road was operational so our playground was off limit.

From our door, we can slap on the boards to cross country or mountain bike in Stinchfield Woods. I think the best tubing around is at Vet’s Park.  Let me know what you enjoy about our local winter fun and your favorite tubing spot.

We are here to welcome you and your family to Ann Arbor.  Let us show you Ann Arbor Area housing options.

Dexter Real Estate: 3519 Lexington Circle, Dexter, MI 48130; Find all Dexter homes for Sale

3519 Lexington Circle, Dexter 48130

$184,900 | 3 Bedrooms | 2 Bathrooms | 0.22 Acres | MLS #: 490302

Can you say Great Room with volume ceilings and gas fireplace? Well appointed kitchen with plenty of cabinet space. First floor master with walk-in closet and master bath. Large study loft on the second floor. Two nice sized bedrooms along with full bath on the second floor. Two car attached garage along with a full basement for plenty of storage. Large deck off the kitchen nook area with fenced backyard. This 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home in Dexter Crossing subdivision in the village of Dexter is a perfect opportunity for buyers to snap up a fabulous home at a great price point. The community offers professionally designed neighborhood entrances, street lighting, picnic area, play parks, walking trails and sidewalks with Dexter sewer and water. Dexter Crossing is a mixed use community with the convenience of Busch’s grocery, Country Market grocery, video store and restaurants within walking distance. Which is what you need right? Add to your favorites, and schedule a showing of this great Dexter Real Estate.

Tucked away along the banks of the Huron River, the Village of Dexter is growing in leaps and bounds. Although Dexter’s current population estimates are under 3,000, the village is coming into its own, and new residents are creating a need for new residential developments, retail and entertainment options. But as Dexter continues to grow, the community’s emphasis on family life and preservation of its historical charm are never forgotten.

Sellers say:

Dexter has a small town feel with easy access to big city things.  Dexter has access to all of the local schools, the metroparks , cider mill and it is close to the YMCA. It also has a very good school district.   There is a small park located in the subdivision as well as a nice walking path throughout.  The neighborhood – I wanted my young kids at the time to have access to friends/neighbors.  The neighbors are very friendly and helpful as well.  There is a subdivision wide garage sale and an adopt a family program at Holiday time.  Grocery store is within walking distance for those forgotten items needed for dinner.

Aubrees and the Dexter Pub are some of my favorite local restaurants!

Schedule of Events

According to Lawrence Kestenbaum, Washtenaw County’s Clerk and Register of Deeds office, “Only 784 Sheriff’s Deeds were recorded in 2012 through November, compared to 1,045 in 2011 and 1,337 in 2010.  This year’s year-to-date total continues as the lowest since 2006.”  If you are looking for foreclosures in Ann Arbor, there are still some bargains to be found.

The 2012 year-to-date Sheriff’s Deeds recorded were 24.9% less than last year.  We are running close in totals to the year’s 2006 & 2007 showing good signs of stability in the real estate market.  🙂

Do not wait to list your home?  This is the perfect real estate market to show off your property.  The number of homes listed is low and there are fewer and fewer distressed properties for home buyers to choose from.  We are not looking back.  All the market signs are leaning toward a great selling market.  Buyers want to take advantage of the all-time low interest rates.  Many homes are receiving multiple offers.  The weather is mild for this time of year and Buyers are looking, qualified, and eager to make their new home purchase.

A total of 707 contracts have closed in the last 6 months with a median sold price of $247,500. Breaking it down, we notice that the $200,000 – $300,000 price range contains the highest number of sold listings. Alternatively, a total of 76 listings have failed to sell in that same period of time. Listings may fail to sell for many reasons such as being priced too high, having been inadequately marketed, the property was in poor condition, or perhaps the owner had second thoughts about selling at this particular time. The $200,000 – $300,000 price range has the highest number of off-market listings at 24 properties.

The future is bright with the news release from Washtenaw County’s Clerk and Register of Deeds Office.  There were only 74 Sheriff’s Deeds recorded by Washtenaw County in October.

With year-to-date totals, comparing 2011 to 2012 there was a 24.6% drop in the total number of recorded sheriff’s deeds.  All signs heading in the right direction. DOWN!!  The numbers are indicating a strong finish as we head into the last 2 months of the year.  Totals have not looked this good since 2006.

Have you been sitting back waiting for the market to improve?  All signs show – It’s a Go! UM School of Music, Theatre & Dance Presents: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

One of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream conjures a mystical existence where chaos, love, obsession, and transformation collide. In the four worlds of the Dream, the privilege of the court, the rebellion and hormonal surge of the lovers, the magical domestic unrest of the fairies, and the boundless naïve enthusiasm of the rude mechanicals are thoroughly interwoven through Shakespeare’s unparalleled lyrical poetry. Combining epiphanies, malicious tricks, spells, abandonments, betrayals, and reconciliations, A Midsummer Night’s Dream leads us on an exhilarating journey through love’s fire.

The Michigan Theater Presents: Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale

It’s the eve of Christmas in northern Finland, and an ‘archeological’ dig has just unearthed the real Santa Claus. But this particular Santa isn’t the one you want coming to town. When the local children begin mysteriously disappearing, young Pietari and his father Rauno, a reindeer hunter by trade, capture the mythological being and attempt to sell Santa to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig. Santa’s elves, however, will stop at nothing to free their fearless leader from captivity. What ensues is a wildly humorous nightmare – a fantastically bizarre polemic on modern day morality. Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale is a re-imagining of the most classic of all childhood fantasies, and is a darkly comic gem soon to be required perennial holiday viewing.

U of M Athletics and football featured by Sixty Minutes

$133 million dollars U of M athletic department budget is watched closely by Dave Brandon.  See video featuring athletic programs as business models that need to be sustainable.  Michigan’s athletic department sold bonds to generate excited fans.

The indoor practice facility has been renovated and is shown here in the video by Coach Hoke.  This helps recruit top athletes and generates huge fund raising.

Alabama’s athletic department profits have tripled.

Is there too much pressure on student athletes? Watch our great treasure – U of M Football via 60 minutes. I agree with Brandon, they did a fair job.  I am one of University of Michigan’s biggest fans when not selling homes in Ann Arbor.
