SELLER SAYS
Dexter is the kind of town that everyone looks for to raise their family. People walk on the sidewalks, talk in the Dairy Queen line, watch high school sports.
It is a home town of home towns.
My house is in the central business district proper. It is one of the last places where you can walk to the store, walk to the school, and feel the atmosphere of living in a small town.
I’m a basic restaurant kind of person so my favorite is the Lighthouse Cafe but there are many dining opportunities in Dexter. You could eat out every night at a different place enjoying everything from Pizza to white table cloths.
Busch’s though I was sad when they moved out of downtown. I’m waiting for the day when a small specialty grocery opens. Still, a 5 min drive isn’t too far.
I used the property for a second home and medical office so the location directly across from the post office drew me. I love the old style house and though the fact that there is only one bathroom is not up to modern standards it is a great place for a home office. The foot traffic is constant and everyone in town knows this house. While the small town aspect provides privacy this is a great location to do a small business, in home or not.
Hometown values and feeling. This is not the hustle bustle of a big city. Yet AA is just a view minutes away. Good schools, and a great place to grow up. Having lived in other locations now I truly respect what the midwest and Dexter have to offer to a growing family.
This property took a big hit in the market crash, Dexter did too. But Dexter is a solid place and the market here will come back quickly when it does. AA is a market where sellers are getting more than they are asking. Soon that will be the situation in Dexter. I wish I could hang on to the house for another few years.
Fishing, mountain biking, hunting, sailing, boating, you name it, it is in Wash co.
Gas and electric come on the same bill. I insulated under the kitchen and that improved the bills and made it very unlikely that any pipe would freeze even when it is very cold. The bills vary a lot from summer to winter of course since there isn’t central air. The house stayed pretty cool when I kept the doors closed on hot days and a single small window unit was all it needed. Average for the year about 110 to 120/mo gas and elect.
