The One Thing by Gary Keller

Here with Jay Papasan and Gary Keller with his new book The One Thing

Photo

“After looking back at my successes and failures I discovered an interesting pattern,” Keller explained. “Where I’d had huge success, I had narrowed my concentration to ONE Thing, and where my success varied, my focus had to.”

Many example of the One Thing were presented including Angelo Amorico, Italy’s most successful tour guide – Oprah taps him when she needs a tour – says he developed his skills and ultimately his business from his singular passion for his country and the deep desire to share it with others. “I love my country, and I want to share its beauty with the world,” he told Keller.

Having set the stage for the concept of the book, Keller and Papasan presented the lies that block success and how to identify (and thwart) the thieves that steal our time. They modeled the laws of purpose, priority and productivity, and finally, they taught that the ONE Thing can radically change the way we work, the choices we make and the results we get. Throughout it all, Keller asked attendees to think big. “On your way to living a life worth living, doing your best to succeed at what matters most to you not only rewards you with success and happiness but with something even more precious. No regrets,” he said. “Go live a life worth living where, in the end, you’ll be able to say, ‘I’m glad I did,’ not ‘I wish I had.’”

This is Gary’s Good to Great!  Gary, thanks for doing your One Thing – sharing your knowledge based passion to put your company on top as the perceived expert and the go to resource more so than all other companies.

Jason Marsalis Vibe Quartet

Jason Marsalis, vibraphone: From a tender young age it was clear that JASON MARSALIS had what it took to be great. Jason is the son of pianist and music educator Ellis Marsalis and his wife Dolores, and the youngest sibling of Wynton, Branford and Delfeayo. Together, the four brothers and Ellis comprise New Orleans’s venerable first family of jazz.?Jason is well known for his prodigal drumming. Working with the Ellis Marsalis trio as well as the Marcus Roberts trio, he has fine tuned his playing in two of the most demanding settings in modern jazz. However, with the release of 2008’s “Music Update,” listeners are now recognizing Jason for his unique sound on the vibraphones.??Since 2000, Jason has been a mainstay on the New Orleans scene as a bandleader from the vibraphone chair. These groups have performed at Snug Harbor, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, The Jazz Playhouse, and The Satchmo Summerfest.??Jason has also appeared at jazz venues through the US and Canada, and has toured Europe on the summer festival scene. His playing is unique; drawing from a wide range of influences, Jason performs original music as well as many hidden gems in the jazz literature and beyond.

As a drummer, Marsalis collaborates frequently with his brothers Delfeayo and Branford, in addition to Marcus Roberts and Ellis Marsalis. When he is not filling the drum chairs in these groups, Jason performs as a vibraphonist with artists such as Shannon Powell, John Ellis, Roland Guerin, Irvin Mayfield, and many others as well as leading his own quartet.
