Nichols Arboretum

Outdoor enthusiasts rave about Nichols Arboretum. This park is gorgeous year-round from the summer when peonies are in full bloom to the grandiose colors of fall. The park features picnic tables and walking and jogging paths. Deer and squirrels can often be seen along the quieter pathways. Near the University of Michigan campus, this park is treated to Shakespeare performances by University of Michigan theater students each fall. This large park has many areas to explore from the river, to the flower garden, to the prairie-esque gardens. Image by mrdonduck via Flickr.
